Blog #3 Let's Nacho

How many of us are struggling to lose weight but hate going to the gym to workout? Well, fret not you're probably not the only one. And there's nothing to worry about since there are other fun ways to lose weight in the form of body training. Well, I love Bollywood dancing and very recently came across an article that described various dance workouts that would help you lose weight.

The article began by saying, 'So how about dancing your way to health? Dance is a fun way to lose weight and it gives you an opportunity to let your hair down, literally. Here are some exciting dance workouts for you, which can get you a slender figure and a healthy body!' That looks like a very good start to the article! Completely draws attention and get you excited to read more!

The article basically had a list of 6 dance forms with a little description of them and the range of calories one could burn by doing them. The list was given in the order of least calories burnt to most calories burnt. So, here's a list of the dance workouts in a gist-

1. Belly Dancing:
It's a seductive dance form that helps you build your confidence. Belly dancing targets the hips and the abs, which are problem areas for a lot of women.
Calories burnt: 250-300 in an hour

2. Salsa:
A good way to bond with your partner over salsa classes and shed some weight while enjoying yourselves thoroughly!
Calories burnt: 300-500 in an hour

3. Bollywood Dancing:
The desi Bollywood dance moves can really put your body to workout. Bollywood dancing covers a lot with the shimmy, the twist, the bhangra, the leg shake, those latkas & jhatkas, and goes a great way towards keeping you in shape. Bollywood and bhangra dance moves are a great cardio workout for your entire body.
Calories burnt: 300-700 in an hour depending on the intensity

4. Hip Hop:
A lively but high-intensity dance form that requires a lot of stamina and strength. It is super energetic and thus is ideal for those who are looking to shed some quick pounds.
Calories burnt: 370-610 in an hour

5. BreakDance:
A fun way to lose weight as well as show off your skills. Breakdancing is a form of street dance, which is an offshoot of hip-hop and thus requires a great deal of strength and agility. Helps to boost flexibility, balance and upper body strength. Calories burnt: 400-650 in an hour

6. Zumba:
Zumba is the new age dance workout, inspired by Latin dance styles and aerobics. It is a high-energy dance form that allows you to tone a number of your body parts simultaneously.
Calories burnt: 500-800 in an hour

Well, I really liked the article. There are a lot of days when I am too lazy to dress up and go to the gym, so on those days, these dance workouts can come handy. Like I mentioned before I love Bollywood dancing and I'm very happy to read how good it is for the body's fitness. Although I probably feel it can help you burn more calories than this article had mentioned. I hope the COREC comes up with Bollywood Zumba classes, I swear I'd be the first one to join!

Blog #5 Dilli Haat

Being born and brought up in Delhi, I have been going to this permanent market, popularly known as Dilli Haat or Delhi Haat (open-air market) run by Delhi tourism, so very often! Dilli Haat is a unique bazaar in the heart of the city that displays different aspects of Indian culture and tradition. It has small shops and food stalls from all the states of India at this one particular market which means you can literally explore every bit of India at this one market of Delhi. So, I thought why not search on youtube a video on a traveler's experience in order to showcase you what all Delhi Haat has to offer so that next time when you all, my international friends visit Delhi, you surely make a trip to this forever-happening bazaar. The youtube blogger begins by talking a little about the history of the market. She finds it funny yet absurd that this market, in INA was opened in the year 1994 and was made wheelchair accessible in 2003. She explains that since India is such a di...

Blog #6 Aisha Movie Review

One of my all-time favorite movies is ‘ Aisha .’ I decided to find reviews of that movie and see how others perceived it as.   Mayank Shekhar, an Indian film critic gave the movie a 1/2 star out of 5. Let's find out why. The critique explains th at the movie begins with a wedding of a middle-aged pair with couples sipping on champagne, tinkling & toasting to good health and white sparkling white clothes. He made sure to point out that white is considered an inauspicious color by Hindus. In this movie, Sundays afternoons were reserved for fancy hats at the races. He claims to have never gone for such imagined circles and found them hyped. According to him, these details were necessary.   He then described how he found the New York-based Mira Nair seem to know more about New Delhi’s upper-class and Punjabis as in the movie Monsoon Wedding, than this director. The film borrows from Jane Austen’s novel Emma. Sonam Kapoor plays the lead role and she’s Aisha ....
